From expert consultant to global agency. David Born took his years of experience working in creative licensing and set up his own agency, Born Licensing, in 2016. Born Licensing are experts in licensing characters and clips from film and television, animation, games, Emojis and more, enabling advertisers to legally create captivating campaigns.
When David approached us, he was aware that the agency’s website wasn’t converting in the way it could. We first spoke about support with paid advertising and SEO but in reality, realised there was a deeper problem: the usability, design and content of their site. Born Licensing’s request was simple: more enquiries and increased brand exposure. So, we figured out what to do to make that happen.
We started by identifying the real issues affecting conversion. Quality messaging, visual professional appeal and digital optimisation were absent from their website. For these reasons, we decided on a different approach — one that had a significantly better strategy for gaining quality enquiries long-term rather than just increasing traffic short-term.

We went back to the fundamentals. Who are we speaking to and what do we want to say to them? The Born Licensing team does a great job of speaking to prospective clients and becoming their go-to for creative licensing. But that wasn’t clear on their website. It wasn’t clear that they were the number one choice or that they could be trusted by someone just hearing about them for the first time.
So, we defined a very clear and specific audience and positioned Born Licensing as ‘Your trusted entertainment licensing experts.’ We then made a point of bringing their amazing portfolio to the forefront, showcasing their unique licensing partnerships and extensive knowledge.

We brought punch and personality to the website by combining bold typography with graphic elements created from the logo itself and the best examples of their work. The paired-back colour palette allowed their work to shine and speak for itself.
We also leveraged the instantly recognisable names that Born works with to grab attention. From their status as appointed representation for Universal Studios and Hasbro to their close relationship with Rights Holders like Disney and Warner Bros, the website positions Born Licensing as the go-to contact for all of your entertainment licensing needs.
We predicted and solved industry objections at first glance to increase on-page conversion through tailored messaging and strategic UX. With this structure firmly in place, the Born Licensing website educates its audience by quickly engaging users with the big campaigns they’ve worked on.

With a strong website in place, we turned our attention to marketing. We worked closely with the Born team to produce a leading whitepaper full of industry insight. Our role was to bring the information provided to life through highlighting compelling stats visually and creating shareable infographics. We also turned the findings into a book format with clear, digestible content and crisp, engaging graphic design.
From statistic-fueled infographics to maps and character usage, this became a piece of long-form gated content to drive high levels of engagement and conversion of advertisers and marketers who are interested in entertainment licensing. From the core piece of content, we developed a social campaign with tailored graphics, elevated by paid advertising across LinkedIn to supercharge lead generation.
